In Precarities, threatened habitats and life forms from the Southwest of Australia are celebrated, and mourned.

Unique native wildlife such as Honey Possum, pouch young Quenda and Red-tail Black Cockatoos and their botanical habitats – all threatened with extinctions - find eternity in metal sculptures as future remnants of the Anthropocene.
PRECARITIES is new body of work, developed through collaborations between art and science, an object-based interrogation of what is truly precious in wearable jewellery and fine metal objects.
The making of this work involved recycled metals and lab-based art processes such as vascular corrosion casting alongside traditional studio-based metal artistry.
The exhibition is a result of a collaboration with Dr Natalie Warburton, Associate Professor of Anatomy at Murdoch University. No animals were harmed in the process of making this work. The creative development and research behind this new body of work was supported through the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport.
This is our wetland swansong,
beaks stuck fast in concrete.

Western Australian contemporary jewellery and object artists Tineke Van der Eecken and Sultana Shamshi present their solo exhibitions side by side, exploring a botanical world shaped by ecological and cultural extinctions.
Together, these bodies of work honour the inherent beauty of raw materials while expressing shared concerns for the environment and humanity.
Precarities & Revisiting the Mughal Garden is presented as part of Radiant Pavilion 2026, a Naarm/Melbourne Contemporary Jewellery and Object Biennial.
